Having a child, adolescent, or adult with challenging and difficult behaviors can be stressful. It can create stress within the family, create complications in school or with peers, and make everyday tasks daunting.
How can you manage the behaviors? How can you teach the necessary skills to reduce behaviors? What kind of treatment is helpful?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of studying behavior and implementing changes to increase positive, appropriate behaviors, while decreasing negative, inappropriate behaviors.
It is an evidence-based practice, which targets the behaviors and skills needed to live, communicate, and engage with others.
Applied Behavior Analysis is among the most prescribed treatments for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
At Shaping Change, LLC, we provide ABA therapy to individuals with and without diagnoses, who display challenging and difficult behaviors and skills deficits needing to be improved.
Applied Behavior Analysis can be implemented in a variety of settings, including our state-of-the-art clinic, home, school, and community-based settings.
Sessions are conducted in a one-on-one format, addressing both undesirable behaviors to be reduced and new skills to be taught.
Applied Behavior Analysis can address a multitude of areas, including but not limited to:
We continue to provide services in-person in our clinic and in homes during this time.
We have COVID-19 safety protocols and measures in place to increase the health and well-being of our staff and patients.
We are also offering ABA services through Telehealth.
Our Feeding Program is designed and tailored to meet each individual’s needs. Our staff will conduct assessments and evaluations to develop a comprehensive feeding program to address a variety of issues from picky eating to texture or sensory concerns.
This program is supplemental to any other services, as such assessments/evaluations and sessions are scheduled separately from other services being rendered.
Our Social Skills Groups Program is aimed at developing and enhancing social skills at various ages and levels of communication, socialization, and development.
The program focuses on the different levels of socialization from approaching others to ending an interaction appropriately.
Our staff will lead and facilitate the groups with the assistance of parents/caregivers, depending on the level and needs of the individual, in order to provide a safe and social atmosphere, and boost parent/caregiver involvement in social skills development.
During this time, our Social Skills Group Program will be held outdoors to maximize social distancing and maintain safety.
All individuals, both patients and parents/caregivers participating must wear a mask or face covering at all times.
