We are offering an outdoor social skills group for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) between the ages of 6 and 8.
What is a social skills group?
A social skills group is a group that teaches individuals different aspects of socialization, from approaching and greeting others, to engaging in various interactions and ending interactions. Additionally, social skills group can teach and improve conversational skills, friendships skills, and problem solving skills.
What skills will be addressed?
In this outdoor group, we will be addressing the following social skills:
- WH Questions
- Interpersonal Skills
- Cooperative Skills
All of these skills will be introduced, taught, and developed while engaging in fun, outdoor games and activities.
Who Can Benefit?
Individuals with ASD between the ages of 6 and 8 can benefit from this social skills group.
Our group will also incorporate some parent/caregiver training, as parents/caregivers are required to participate. This will provide parents/caregivers the opportunity to learn how to engage their child in social skills activities.
Our outdoor group will promote social distancing and work on social skills that can be addressed from greater distances, incorporating COVID-19 safety guidelines, like waving instead of shaking hands or high-fiving.
Additional policies and COVID-19 safety guidelines will be in place and can be found on our registration form.
